I often get told by clients that they are having trouble deciding on more than two or three colours for their wedding. I always recommend that in order to create depth, interest and appeal, more than 3 colours are needed. If you are having trouble deciding, here’s a few pointers.
1. Choose ONE colour. This is usually led by the colour of the maids dresses or the invitations.
Let’s say you know you want navy (as your bridesmaids are wearing navy) and you know you want ivory (as you are wearing ivory). That’s already two colours you’ve chosen - now all you have to do is find another 3 or 5 (we work in odds…) colours that will tie those two vastly different colours together.
2. Choose a colour halfway between these two (and no, it doesn’t have to be a shade of blue…) There are tonnes of colours that work well with dark hues - in particular pinks. Soft pink or magenta are two very popular colour this season and will add a touch of feminine to the look. For an even bolder statement you can add some gold as an accent and then of course some lush green for delicacy.
There you have it! Navy, Magenta, Ivory, Lush green, Gold. Done!

Now go to Design Seeds and have some fun! There are literally thousands of colour palettes to choose from, and you can even choose the category (i.e. floral).
