A country wedding is always a treat, but when you’re asked to travel over 3 hours to do the flowers for a wedding that really excites you with the array of beautiful blooms, textures and colours the couple have chosen - it doesn’t seem so epic! We love weddings that are further afield - a fresh landscape is always inspirational, and this amazing venue leaves no detail un-addressed when it comes to elegance, tradition and service. I am speaking of Gabbinbar Homestead.
From the driveway to the formal grounds; the understated elegance of the eucalypts and cypress; the traditional building - there is no one who enters this estate without feeling transported back in time. So much attention to perfection - flowering perennials, manicured lawns, sculpted hedges - and that’s just outside! Inside it’s a feast for the eyes - glass panels in the ceiling of the main reception room, exposed beams, high ceilings and polished floors. The bridal suite spoils it’s occupants with silver gilt mirrors, sash windows and floor to ceiling curtains. Lush fabric and fresh paint - when I delivered the flowers I didn’t want to leave!

The ceremony area (there are a couple) is superb. A similarly designed ‘old school’ pavilion that has been tenderly erected to assimilate with it’s surroundings rather than blur the scene has magnificent chandeliers, high ceiling, wooden floor and a beautiful backdrop of cypress and eucalyptus. Surrounding by flowering agapanthus and seasonal shrubs, the area begs for closer inspection and is the perfect intimate space for vows and well wishes from loved ones.

We are doing another wedding there this year - I am so excited!
